Late last year my venerable desktop computer died, taking with it the tools that I'd long used to get sources for vids, WinDVD Ripper for Mac for dvds and Tune4Mac for iTunes sources. I'm now using my slightly newer Macbook Air and while I've grown used to the the smaller screen and FCP X, I found that the old workhorse software is incompatible with the newer Mac OS. I think WinDVD Ripper recently came out with an updated version that will work, but I still have no idea what to use for the stuff I've purchased through iTunes over the years.

Any idea of software that will do the trick and not be thwarted by DRM?

I'm in a similar boat in that I'm "upgrading" and some of my older tools are a bust. I'm just starting to learn FCP X because I can't install FCE on my new computer. *grrr....

For source, I found PlayOn which works well (I use the app version and download the file), only it's not free. I've used it with Netflix and Amazon, I'm not sure if it's compatible with iTunes.
Noteburner is what I used for iTunes in the past - it looks like they have updated software available.

Good luck!! I'll be interested in what others say for regular DVD ripping as my version of Mac the Ripper won't install on my new computer either. :( (although their website apparently has a newer version available for purchase and it's not too much $)

I have Sierra, not High Sierra, so I don't know if this still works, but I've been able to continue to use Tune4Mac to rip iTunes media by downgrading to an earlier version of iTunes (following instructions on the Tune4Mac website) and then re-upgrading afterwards -- the re-upgrade is because I have to use a version of iTunes that's so old it no longer recognizes my iTunes library, and the suggested fix for this on the Tune4Mac website doesn't seem to work. It's a slightly clunky workaround, but it works okay. You could even leave the downgraded iTunes installed permanently if you don't have very extensive libraries or can successfully rebuild them (though you'll also have to turn off auto-updates). But like I said, I don't know if it works in High Sierra.
