Software for a beginner

I need to do BASIC video editing for a project.  Literally all I need to do is put two or three clips together into one video and put in a title card or two.  I need something that is a) free and b) easy to use.  What would you suggest?

If you have a Mac, the native video application (iMovie) should be able to handle that. I believe that Windows Movie Maker is still the free default on PCs.

I'm on a PC, and Windows stopped making Movie Maker when Windows 8 came out. The video editing software that came with my PC is able to put clips together, but if there's a way to trim a clip, I have yet to find it, which is why I'm asking.

I downloaded kdenlive for windows, but they have other versions. It was really simple to use to cut up clips and save. I didn't try to mess with audio or title cards, though. There are some tutorials on youtube that might help with that.
