I am contemplating getting a new computer either later this year or early next year, and have resigned myself to the fact that it will probably come with Windows 8. Does anyone have any experience with vidding on Windows 8? Any tutorials? I'm used to using Sony Vegas Pro 7, and would probably have to upgrade to 12, is it stable?

Also, what would be the equivalent of DVD shrink?

I'm running Vegas Movie Studio HD 12 on Win8. It's pretty stable. I have the odd crash here and there, but it did so on Win7 as well. I'm pretty sure I had upgraded to Win8 before I did my Festivids, and they came out quite painlessly.

I use SmartRipper, which I think is unsupported these days (I could just be imagining that) but works well - I edit with the .vob files it produces, no need to convert to other formats. Vegas has always done this very nicely for me. I run AnyDVD in the background which helps with discs that might otherwise be unreadable (due to DRM or region coding issues).
