Wiscon is an annual feminist science fiction conference held in late May each year (on Memorial Day weekend) in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
From the Wiscon website:
Each evening at Wiscon, parties are held on the 6th floor of the con hotel, in hospitality suites. In 2010, we held the first ever Wiscon Vid Party: a video projector, 6 hours of vids, and at least a hundred attendees. In 2011, we're doing it again, and we'd love you to be involved!
We are soliciting premieres. We would especially welcome vids which fit in with Wiscon's overall theme of feminist SF, though all premiering vids are welcome. We are also going to make it as easy as possible for people to submit vids -- even those who might never have sent a vid to a con, or even made a vid before.
We will have a singalong show and are looking for sing-along-able vids for it. If you have any recs, or have made such a vid yourself, please let us know. All vids in this show will be subtitled (we can provide help with that).
Our introductory vid show's theme will be "Vids with something to say." The first hour of the vid party (9-10pm) is intended to introduce vids to people who might not be familiar with the idea, or who might be inexperienced at reading vids. Last year we just gave a general overview, but this year we're focusing on how vidders communicate meaning through vids. We welcome suggestions/recs for vids that would be suitable for this show.
Wiscon, and this vid party, value accessibility. Wiscon is known for its commitment to disabled accessibility. Our party will be following Wiscon's accessibility standards, as well as providing warnings for common triggers which may appear in vids.
For more information please see our Wiscon Vid Party info post. To suggest a vid for any of our themed playlists, or to rec a recent vid that we might want to show, please comment on our vid suggestions/recs post. And, if you'd like to stay informed about our plans and get regular announcements, please subscribe to

From the Wiscon website:
This is the world's leading feminist science fiction convention. WisCon encourages discussion and debate of ideas relating to feminism, gender, race and class. WisCon welcomes writers, editors and artists whose work explores these themes as well as their many fans. We have panel discussions, academic presentations, and readings as well as many other uncategorizable events.
