Our Vidding History

Over the holiday weekend, a few more pages have been added to Fanlore, showcasing vids that have been shown at Vividcon. However, there are thousands of fanvids out there and lots more to say about vidding.
Currently on Fanlore, there are only 200+ fanvids listed. There are more than 60 fanvid pages for Merlin, but less than a dozen for Star Trek, Supernatural, Buffy and most other fandoms. Since Fanlore is open to anyone to edit, feel free to jump in and document your vid (if you’re vidder) or your favorite vid (if you are a fan of vids). You don’t have to write a long expose, just type in the details and add a short sentence or two why you think the vid is awesome.
Here are some sample fanvid pages:
The Mountain (LOTR vid)
Burn and Drown (Merlin vid)
Too much detail? Try a bare bones fanvid page:
A Fire Is Burning (The Professionals)
As you can see there are many styles, so don’t worry about formatting or getting it “right”. The basic template for a fanvid is here (they have a separate one for anime vids, which are also welcomed).
To create an account on Fanlore, you need to register. Go here for an overview and a link to the account creation page. There is also a section for New Editors on that page (scroll down).
I also found this Tutorial to be helpful.
